Extinction Rebellion: Strategy and Tactics

In this episode of Politics Theory Other, Alex interviews Roger Hallam, the principal theorist of Extinction Rebellion. Roger is asked about XR's mass arrest tactics, the movement's attitude toward the police, and a number of other positions taken in his recently published manifesto, Common Sense for the 21st Century.

Once again, new left media is done on a shoe string, so if you have a few quid to spare (or, indeed, a multimillionaire with an Engelsian bent), please support Politics Theory Other here.

As I can’t find a way to leave a comment on the podcast itself, maybe you can pass this on. I also agree that you should if possible pay for online content, especially if you use it regularly - the alternative is usually advertising, which is very problematic. However, I have a problem, as this website, via Patreon, seems to require US dollars. As my bank charges around GBP 3.50 for each foreign currency transaction, you will need to provide alternatives if you expect my custom.

There is a well known Halifax credit card (I forget its name and I don't keep it in my wallet) which exchanges foreign currency transactions to GBP using the bank's own exchange rate without a spread or a charge. I use this with PayPal to pay my patreon subs. I doubt its interest rate is competitive, but you can set the bill policy to automatically debit the full balance from your current account and, provided you don't use the card for anything else (i.e. don't keep it in your wallet) that shouldn't be a problem.
