Simple - Blondie never were cool. You just fancied Debbie Harry. I on the other hand never fancied Debbie Harry - the OTT perfection of her maquillage had the same counter-productive effect on me as did that of Karen Carpenter's voice - and thus was free to register the basic mediocrity of the band's oeuvre (apart from Heart of Glass obvs).
