Or indeed, a Labour/Tory coalition, as now in Edinburgh ! All of these parties are hugely dominated at local , (as at national) levels by councillors only too happy to take their allowances and expenses , and opportunities for corruption of course, and administer the ever-deepening funding crisis of local government There is no 'dented shield' advantage of a Labour-led council any longer , anywhere . The central government , year on year, withdrawal of that vital central support grant funding has simply made local government (and local social care) provision increasingly impossible. Labour councils , as with the others, will continue to implement the utter destruction of local services as long as the councillors get paid their allowances to do it. So Phil's glee that this month apparently local election results were quite good for Starmerite Labour , is a reflection only of his kneejerk tribal loyalties to a now soulless zombie party, not a sensible reflection of any sort of positive gain for the millions of our citizens increasingly being crucified by the collapse of vital local services , regardless of the party supposedly 'in power' in that council area.
