808 State - Pacific State

Theresa May undertakes a wrecking operation are her Brexit position, making it even less likely to fly with the EU. She then announces government plans to close Parliament early to prevent any more political embarrassment. And then our mate Donald Trump says he believes Vladimir Putin over the FBI on matters relating to Russian influence on the US election. What a day.

Unfortunately, I'm cream crackered and not in position to write anything tonight. Bah. Still, for occasions such as these there are top tunes aplenty to serenade you with. Here's one.

And what a pity under such conditions of Tory chaos and collapse that Labour continues to let them off the hook, by itself supporting that Brexit madness, and thereby failing to give a clear principled alternative for the working-class to rally around, so as to avoid the catastrophe that this reactionary policy now threatens to impose on the working-class, as it becomes more than apparent that the UK is heading for a no deal Brexit, whilst Labour's Brexit policy of have cake and eat it, is even more delusionary than that of the Tories.

Labour's six tests clearly are not going to be met, so Labour should be honest and say that they will have to vote against any Tory deal. More importantly, if Labour were in office, it would also not be able to secure a deal that met its six tests so it would have to vote against any deal it negotiated with the EU! So, then either a Labour government would itself have to push through a no deal solution, would have to roll over to whatever the EU imposed, thereby as Barry Gardiner put it, and as I described it a few years ago, becoming a vassal state of the EU, or would have to recognise that the whole project is a reactionary, and diversionary dead end.

Politicians are playing their games. Putin will do anything to let his friends buy a villa in Greece while Trump drinks his covfefe. That's fun.
